So my case only have two 2.5'' slots for storage and I don't have much budget left. I have two choices I can think of right now:

  1. 1* Sandisk Ultra II 960 GB. This is essentially the extent of my budget left.
  2. 1*1TB 2.5" Hard disk and 1*Samsung 850 EVO 250GB.

I'd like to avoid using a hard disk if possible. How much of a difference are there when comparing a cheaper ssd to a more expensive one?

2. Boot windows off of the SSD and download stuff onto the 1 terabyte. It'll go faster then having 1 SSD

Go with option 1!

1tb of ssd should be more than enough for everything. Get another later on if you decide you need more space.

I dissagree, considering how short the life of an ssd is compared to that of an hdd, you'll end up buying more than twice SSD than HDD in a 10 years window (which, considering a 1TB SSD is around eight times as expensive as a 1TB HDD, and the fact that you'll have to buy approx. twice of them, you'll be paying 16x the money).

Furthermore, if you have a single SSD being it the main (and only) storage drive, the wear it'll suffer will be much worse than using it with an extra HDD, thus shortening it's lifespawn.
