I am wondering if the Pentium G4400 is even ok for Freenas with the jails I plan to use. What do you guys think?

The cpu is not overly important in transferring data (i.e. NAS). So it will work fine, and if its really important to you there are some cheap z170 mobos you can get and you can do a base clock overclock on it.

Im worried about the cpu because freenas suggests a "high-end" cpu for using jails and plex and stuff. And if I do need a better cpu, i'm gonna have a problem figuring out what to get cheaper. So what do you think?

You can try picking up an AMD fx-8320. Its about the same price as a i3 6100 (the next step up in intel's lineup). And even if you count every core as half like most people do (doesn't work quite that way though) its still a hyper-threaded quad core vs a hyper-threaded dual core. Plus if you have a decent cooler you can overclock without needing to pay extra for a k series and a high end motherboard.

I'm not very experienced with nas and I only have the most basic understanding of jails, but I think you need to consider the context of 'high end', most people buy the cheapest cpu they can get their hands on because its not important in normal use. I'm on cellular right now so I won't be streaming video, but if your unsure try searching "nas jail system requirements" or something and see what more knowledgeable people would recommend.
