Alright, so here's a challenge.

I've done a bit of research and consulted with several tech buddies on my upgrade monitor to-be next month. I'm heavily leaning toward Acer's XB271HU (IPS) Predator series as my selection. This is to display my recent build named "Evermore"

i7 6700k

GTX 1070

Asus Sabertooth Z170 Mk1

16GB DDR4 2133

H115i Corsair CPU cooler

Corsair 850 Gold PSU

Convince me that another monitor is better for the money. I'm legitimately interested to see solid competitors and even bad reviews from actual users.

Be respectful to each other as always, Thanks y'all.

This monitor is an AHVA 144Hz 1440p $399 monitor. AHVA is like a hybrid between TN and IPS and is AUO's version of PLS (Samsung's name for it).

This is not a Korean monitor AFAICT because their office is based in California.

I'm on this monitor as I type this.  Here's a summary of what an AHVA panel is like: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/content/panel_technologies_content.htm#ahva

TL;DR: Viewing angles like IPS. Refresh Rates like TN. Colors somewhere in the middle.

I owned an LG Ultrawide 1440p IPS display alongside this monitor and was able to directly compare them. This monitor has a very slight yellow tinge to color and looks slightly blurry in comparison. I assume the blur is from the anti-glare coating.

Unfortunately, you getting a GTX 1070 means you can't use FreeSync, but this is still worth it imo.

This monitor also has a feature for splitting the inputs into quadrants of the display.

144Hz is amazing and I'll always recommend it. The only  negative I've really found is that "it's not Ultrawide".

You could even get this one and it's 60Hz brother for about the same as the Acer XB271HU.

I have the Acer XB271HU and it's amazing.  At the time I purchased it there was nothing better.  165hz master race!

How much you can spend?

I'm topping out at $800 USD. I'm not a professional gamer, so anything else is a waste in my hands.

The two seem incredibly close in comparison, down to price point. Why should I consider picking the PG279Q over the  XB271HU? What do I gain?
