Compter Specs:

   CPU: Intel i3-4160

   GPU: MSI R9-270

   Mobo: Asrock H97M-ITX/ac

   PSU: Corsair CX-430M

   SSD: Kingston HyperX Fury 120GB

   HDD: WD Blue 1TB

I need some help. My computer has only just started randomly shutting down with no apparent trigger. I ran stress tests to see if that caused it but it didn't seem to do so. Also, sometimes (not all the time) it won't boot. The GPU and PSU fan will be spinning however the CPU and case fans won't. Which makes me think it is a motherboard issue. What do you guys/gals think?

What is the specs? What is the PSU? Have you OC'd your CPU and/or GPU?

Sorry I accidentally hit the submit button before I put in the specs. GPU was once oc'd but after the first shutdown I reverted to default settings.

1st off, have you installed the motherboard speaker? If not can you and can you tell me if it is giving any beep codes?

Can you test your PSU and GPU on another computer as well?

Your processor isn't being cooled?! And you wonder why it shuts down abruptly. :D

Find a way to power the fan or replace the fan before you try anything else. What damage is to be done is probably already done but I'd keep the powering on to a minimum until the CPU cooler is fixed.

Oh no. Sorry if I worded it weirdly. Whenever the cpu fan does not spin it doesn't boot either. The computer will most of the time boot up normally and run normally for while then shutdown for no reason.

The motherboard did not come with a speaker, sorry. I may be able to steal my brothers computer in a couple of hours to test the GPU and PSU.

Ah! OK. Then it's got to be either the motherboard or the power supply. Fans are simple motors and they just need electricity to run. They often rotate even if the computer won't turn on. But since yours don't, they're clearly not getting power. Borrow a PSU from a friend or something to rule it out

Okay will do, won't have access to a spare power supply for a little bit. Will update when I have done that though. Thank you.
