I have the Armor, it doesn't have a backplate, the factory clockspeeds are a little lower, it has one 8-pin power connector compared to 6 + 8 on the Gaming X. In my opinion get the Gaming X at the same price point, but if you can get the Armor cheaper you won't really see any difference in games with the same silicon lottery ticket.

I may be wrong about this, but doesn't the Gaming X also have custom PCB wheras the Armor does not? probably means power power phases and crap like that.

Armor also has a different cooler on it than the Gaming X. I don't think its gonna make much difference, but the Gaming X one probably performs better.

Jup the gaming variant is faster and a better cooler and considerably more silent. But armor ain't bad. The difference in performance out of the box is marginal, so if it would be worth the extra money for less sound and a overall cooler that possibly has slightly more headroom for OCing is up to you. Don't think those GPU's are binned and the silicon lotery still applies. But with the GPU boost the better the cooling solution, the more performance.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
