Headphone advise needed

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones. I'll be using them when riding my bike to school and work. I won't be using them at any other time, as I already have a pair of Sennheiser HD 598's.

I want them to be closed with noise-cancellation. I wouldn't want them to be bulky or look weird, but I'm also not at all looking for a pair of fashion headphones.

If you have any advice, I'd be very grateful. I'm not an audiophile, that's why i've come here.

EDIT- Noise isolation is fine too, I meant so say that ;)

Hmmmm, on or over ear?

As for them being closed and noise cancellation. That's actually illegal in a lot of places while biking and very dangerous. I almost get hit A LOT when I have my in-ears in. So just be careful..

My understanding and experience has been that going for good sound isolation is a better option than noise cancelling. For example if you are okay with iem's than get a good pair of those and they'll block out more noise and sound better since the electronics from noise cancellation apparently distorts the sound a little.

My rig: 2600k(4.2 GHz) w/ Cooler Master hyper 212+, Gigabyte Z68-UD3H-B3, Powercolor 7870 xt(1100/1500) w/AIO mod,

Price?

ANC sucks, and ruins fidelity, plus is incredible dangerous while biking. As a skater, I know....

Sony MDR V6's and Audio Technical ATH M35's isolation just enough that you can hear your music, and everything around you.

I can't find those on any dutch site, but what do you think of the Sony MDR-V55's?

Try http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/ or just go to Mp4Nation, Ebay or Amazon.de/co.uk.

I have the Soundmagic PL11, excellent sound quality for the price and the isolation is enough to hear traffic, but a lot of wind comes trough when windy (I use them for biking too).

System:
4670k@4,7Ghz <fully stable ( and 5Ghz, incredible unstable)| Asus Maximus VI Hero | G.Skill TridentX 16GB 2400Mhz C10 | AMD XFX R9 290 OC'ed (locked, Elpida) Cooled by a Kraken G10&X40 w/ NF-A14 | NZXT Phantom 530 | 2TB Seagate Barracuda | Samsung EVO 250GB | Cooler Master V850 | QNIX QX2710 @110Hz | Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2 | Ducky Shine 3 ^^ | Madcatz R.A.T. 5 | Brainwavz Delta's |

All the good IEM's isolate too much though D:

That is the purpose of real IEMs. They are not large enough to have cups to cover your whole ear like headphones do.

Enjoy those tacos now, for in 1000 years they will be illegal... eh Ha Ha Ha! I think we all know why.

I know, I've been hit by three cars while wearing my SE-215's

Only headphone that I've really enjoyed using while out is amusingly enough an AKG K412p

I don't think the SE-215 is the main reason why you're being attacked by cars. I assume people just don't like you. Why risk your life outside when you can stay inside and just play games?

Really though, I've been hit by three cars because %30 of the population in my state don't have drivers licenses, and have never went through any official educational program.

It depends on what your mission actually was. I'm assuming your first objective when you came to this thread was to help me pick out a pair of headphones, but that hasn't happened yet, has it? Do you think the Sony MDR-V55's are any good?

I think you may be better of going used for that sort of money - what about something like http://www.head-fi.org/t/645901/philips-uptown
