Okay so not just any M.2.

I want one for the PCI-e slots where my GPU's are at, becuase my dedicated M.2 slot is blocked by my tubing.

get a m.2 with a riser card then. OCZ and their RD400 have capacities up to 1TB that can come with PCIe riser cards. You could also buy a separate riser card m.2 adapter and plug any M.2 into it and use it that way.

But how the hell does tubing block an m.2 slot. almost all of them on all motherboards lay flat on the motherboard, that should be pretty easy to accommodate.

Maybe it's hardline tubing that would make it a pain (drain loop - take off fitings - install SSD - put tubes and fittings again - fill loop - test for leaks again) to install.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

I have the X99-s

lol of course you do. only a handful of motherboards orient their m.2 in that fashion.... sounds like you shoulda planned ahead better haha.

But yeah for real. RD400 is a pretty awesome little NVMe drive that comes with a built in riser card if you wanna plug that into your PCIe ports.

Now that's a first. A M.2 slot that towers up, not sideways or flat, straight up. Wat

Check whether your mobo has a U.2 port, you could use that one to connect a 2.5" form factor SSD that still gets NVMe speeds.

Oh RIP looks like the only SSD that comes with a U.2 interface and is widely available is the Intel 750

Yeah I was a noob at the time, and had no idea M.2 SSD's was a thing when I put my beast together.
