Alright i have 1 tb hard disk and i want to get an ssd coz so many people recommend it. I want to use it as a boot drive... but i dont have an external drive to backup all the files and stuff so i cant transfer windows at least thats what ive been told

But can i setup ssd as a boot drive even if windows is not on in so i can do that until i get another hard disk or is that impossible

Thanks : )

No, that's the definition of a "boot drive" -- the drive you store your OS on it.

I'd do a fresh install of Windows on your SSD, then get rid of all the Windows files on the HDD.

So i can actually buy new windows for ssd remove old one from hdd and thats it ?

No. When we say "boot drive," we're referring to Windows being stored on it, and the system pulling most of its files from that source(the boot drive). That being said, most people will recommend doing a fresh installation of Windows, and for the most part, I do too. But I have done a clone over to my SSD with my 520 and it seemed to work just fine.

How much data do you actually have on the drive may I ask?

Okay, then you will need to do a fresh installation.
