I'm building a PC for the first time and I need help deciding if the parts I'm looking at are good and finding some parts that I'm not sure about. I'm planning to use the system for mostly gaming and some work with video editing, probably in Adobe Premiere or something similar.

So far my parts list is: (USD)

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/jNDdbj

I already have a Intel 535 series 240gb SSD to use as a boot drive so I don't need to buy an SSD, and I'm flexible on most of the parts listed there, as this is just my initial inclination based on very little experience.

My budget is somewhat flexible within ~$100 but somewhere around 1300USD

I already have a mouse and keyboard and one 1080p monitor, but I am planning to buy a used 1440p monitor in addition that will not be coming out of my budget for the computer.

Any feedback or suggestions for better parts would be greatly appreciated (I would like to stick with Nvidia and Intel though).

ok, a few things here:

1. Do you plan on overclocking? That CPU and that cooler are great for it, but the motherboard would need to be a Z170 chipset.

2. That's an expensive case, if you're sold on it, I understand, but if not, I have other recommendations.

3. I am going to recommend going with the 750W Version of that PSU (EVGA 750 G2) because it is only about $10 more and allows for expandability and better overclocking

You need a z170 motherboard and the heatsink, its good, but really a hyper 212 will do you justice, for the price. Far as psu goes you are fine with 650w really dont need a 750w psu at all.

EDIT: Might be able to fix a 1080 ill try it out and see for the lols

I am planning on overclocking because the cooler seems to be withing my budget so why not.

I'm not sold at all on the case, mostly because I don't know that much about whats out there. I just want something that looks alright (preferably with a window) and is built sturdily enough.

if you are OC than the hyper 212 will do you fine.

Yeah the motherboard was the thing I was least sure about so I'll switch that out. I don't know much about the hyper 212, I only went with the Noctua because my parents asked that my system not be too loud and I know Linus raves about how quiet Noctua is.

If you plan on overclocking you will need a Z170 Motherboard.

I would personally recommend the Phanteks P400s (with window). it has a little RGB light on the front, a PSU shroud, and amazing cable management, not to mention magnetic dust filters and sound dampeners.

as for your CPU cooler, I recommend going with a Corsair H60 at that price.
