CPU heatsink and RAM compatibility Issue

im using this spec for my pc

Intel 3570K

MSI z77a G45

Corsair Vengeance Black 8GB kit (2x4GB)

the problem is right now im using stock intel cooler

while i'm planning to overclock my CPU i can't get good cooler because when i bought my pc every cooler (waterloop) that will fit and performs well is out of stock (corsair Hydro series, etc.) (i live in surabaya indonesia)

so now im looking for alternatives (i prefer air cooling) so im looking at Noctua NH D14 or thermalright silver arrow (not sure about hyper 612)

but the problem now is my RAM heatsink is tall and i'm not sure whether i should take the heatsink off or find cooler (sub 100$) that fits and perform well also preferably silent.

i really need your help.

any comment or suggestion is appriciated

Apart from the NH-D14 and Silver Arrow another one you can consider is the SilverStone Heligon HE01. What's nice about that one is that it's just like the NH-D14 except one of the cooling towers is thinner...So depending on your motherboard you could align that side towards the RAM slots and not have to worry about clearance.

Maybe someone else with a MSI z77 board can tell you what air cooler they have in their system.

couldnt agree more with the Silverstone Heligon.. but if your not picky atm and dont mind waiting for a Hydro series H100i or something then thats an alternative, or even another all in one water cooling kit, like the NZXT Kraken if your country has those in..

do you think its a good idea (or rather is it ok) to take off my RAM heatsink/heatspreader?

What i know from the web is that removing it will void warranty and some say the heatsink is rather useless so im not sure.....

im using cm storm enforcer (H100i wont fit without mod, will probably go H80i)

cpu heatsink clearance is 175mm (on spec)

well yes it comes to my mind that i can cut the heatspreaders off but i'm not sure if its a good idea because things can go wrong....

i'd rather buy new ram and sell my old one if i can't find alternatives (other than noctua nh-D14 or silver arrow)

The problem that you're going to face is average temperature and humidity. I would wait for some water coolers to come into stock especially this time of year. Unless you have very good air conditioning I wouldn't be going for air. When it gets to 40°C temp and you start loading up the system it gets hot really hot very quickly. If you can wait get water cooling.

:D order from NCIX they ship internationally :D

Sorry for very late reply,I just woke up.

I don't think i can return it (but i can sell it quite easily or just keep it as backup ram if anythings wrong).

NCIX doesn't ship to my country. (even if it does, the cost will be very high)

in this conditions i only have a few options :( either take/cut off the heatspreader or get new ram or find different cooler

Get new RAM. Don't compromise on your CPU cooler.
