I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I'm gonna try it. Whenever I open an app on my phone with the sound on, it just plays the sound as loud as the slider is, BUT then when I tap the screen, the volume of the sound lowers substantial. The slider will still stay at the same place. I hope you guys can help me!

Has your phone suffered any significant impacts on the bottom area (near the speaker)? Have you noticed any strange distortion sound coming from the speaker when playing videos/music/games? If its not a hardware problem, then does your slider, after opening any app stay on the bottom of the display at all times? Is this a 1st time instance or have you already tried to reset the phone (okay, probably the 1st thing you tried but youd be surprised as to how many people have a problem and just let it be there, until they reset or let the phone battery go out)? If the problem is too severe, perhaps a full software restore is required.

Heres a guide on how you can do some mild fixing for the phone audio problem, http://recomhub.com/blog/huawei-p9-problems-with-sound-solved/

If your saying the problem is just because of the slider, which always goes down after opening an app, then try clearing the cache of the phone indeed.

Hey! My phone is 2 days old, didn't drop it yet, sound is fine actually not distorded at all. The slider stays in position no matter what (for instance; slider is open fully, open the app, the sound is as loud as the sliders position, tap the screen, the sound lowers but the slider stays in position (fully opened)). I did a system reboot, I could try to clear the cache but i'm not sure how (new to android :) ). Didn't drain the battery yet.

  1. Turn on your Huawei P9
  2. Go to Settings > App Manager
  3. Select the app you want to clear the cache for
  4. After you’ve selected the app, look for the app info screen
  5. Select on Clear Cache
  6. To clear the app cache for all apps, go to Settings > Storage
  7. Select Cached Data to clear all app caches simultaneously

Careful tough, all your applications will require to be relogged in, so make sure you backup all your data to theyr respective accounts.

Well, in the best cases it will be a simple software problem that a cache clearing or if needed, full restore, will fix. You coming from Windows Mobile?

Yep, tried it, unfortunately it didn't work. I'm coming from Apple.

Well, try to do just the same "cache wipe", in Android recovery mode. Then bootup, if its still showing up the same problem then you should backup your data and do a factory reset on the P9. If its a software issue, then either a cache wipe or system reformat have to be the solution. Unless a rogue background application or malware could be the issue at hand. Try using Malwarebytes and Avast for Android, just to be sure. They can literally steal your data trough sound these days :p, so honestly i really cant say much about how we have our privacy breached xD!

Instructions for P9 reboot:

  1. Start by powering off your Huawei P9: press and hold the Power key for a few seconds or press the Power button once and select “Power off”.
  2. Wait while the shut down operation is completed.
  3. Now, press and hold, at the same time, the Power and the Volume Up keys.
  4. When the Huawei logo is being displayed, release the keys.
  5. That’s it; the recovery mode menu should now be displayed on your phone.
  6. Use the Volume buttons in order to scroll up and down and the Power key in order to select your options.
  7. You can go back to Android mode by selecting “reboot system now”.

Off topic, does Apple iOS possesss any form of malware security application?

Oh and, if none of these work arounds do the trick, then honestly you should try to get that phone replaced (unless your willing to open it up and change the speaker module).

Just did a cache wipe, did a malware scan, doing avast in a sec. Didn't find anything yet, it seems pokemon go's sound stays the same, but other gaming apps seem to lower the volume (as far as i know).

Off topic, yes, we have avast, but I never used it and never needed it.

I'm gonna check more apps to see if its every app or just some, else I need to contact huawei.

Didn't try it yet, didn't have time for it.

Did however have 2 conversations with Huawei staff, one says it's the hardware, the other says it's the software. Within 2 weeks a new update should roll out, so it might be a problem solver (I hope so). Still gonna try a factory reset though.
