Ext. HDD Placement

I have 2 external hdds and right now they r just laying on my desk with there usb plugged into back of my pc 

Looks ugly af

any ideas about keeping these hdds properly like some diy holder or something like that?

Put them behind your monitor or do what I do and buy longer cables and move them to a shelf/cabinet kinda location.

Depends. I wouldn't know the exact technical specs but obviously you don't want a 100m USB cable. I have a 5m USB 3.0 cable which is connected to a dock with a 2013 500GB 2.5" drive and I get a constant 60-85MB/s.

nice what about side panel of case? stick hdds to the side panel

You could but it kinda defeats the purpose of a backup drive since you can't easily remove it and it's in the same location as your current data. I also don't think cooling would be that great.

yeah right back of monitor is a better place i will get some extension cables
