Hi Guys,

First post here but I've been watching Linus for a while so hi.

Basically today my monitor I inherited with my first computer gave its final croaks outta nowhere and is no longer functional (its lasted a good 8 years). I have a 10 year old spare that overheats if its on for a long time so I'm not 100% S.O.L. but I do need to decide on my first real monitor purchase and ASAP. I'm in the market for 1440p, do some gaming but its not a pure focus, I run an AMD R9 290 in my system. I've spent a good while last year looking at a 27" QNIX QX2710 and it's been sitting there on the top of my list. A bit of looking today also showed a pretty good case for the 25" Acer G257HU. At the same price point is there anything significantly better, more reliable, and/or cheaper. Basically I want an insanity check on if the two links below are good choices and if there are any greener pastures to explore (that dont cost more green) before making a purchase tonight or tomorrow morning. Adieu and thanks

25inches at 1440p may be to small for some people. (TWSS ;))

As an owner of a 24inch 1440p monitor, what I can tell you is if you're like me and doesn't mind small text (as no point in getting a higher res monitor for productivity if you're gonna use scaling) then the Acer isn't a bad choice but the QNIX is at the optimal size for a 1440p monitor so try using a 24 inch 1080p monitor (if you have access to one), go into a web-browser and try browsing everything at 90% scaling and that will give you a taste of what 25 inches at 1440p feels like :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Thanks for the quick response Mr. Meerkat.

Basically I'm looking for something pretty future proofed that meets a lot of general use needs but is still pretty for games so the note on 25" is pretty appreciated. I've been on a 1600x900 and 1680x1200 iirc (not home atm), not sure about size but these were those old era dell monitors. I don't mind small text that much but bigger is nice as long as quality isnt compromised.
