I have had a nexus 5 for the past couple years and the battery life has become absolutely horrible lasting around 2-3 hours on a full charge if I'm lucky. I have the chance to get an iPhone 5s as a replacement and I was wondering if it would be a downgrade/upgrade? I don't really care about phone specs or iOS/Android, I just use what works for soundcloud and Reddit. Should I make the switch?

Downgrade. The 5S is a 3 year old phone, soon will be 4 years old. The 5/5S are already beginning to struggle on iOS 10, and however I have nothing against apple (getting a 7 Plus probably) Apple likes to make you update so your phone gets slow, and you buy a new one.

You'll downgrade on screen size, resolution, practicality, and speed.

I would wait until you can afford something else more recent.

My Main Build: NZXT S340 - NZXT Kraken X31 - Crucial MX100 256GB - i5 4460 - Gigabyte Z97P D3 - Kingston HyperX Red 8GB - MSI Nvidia GTX 780 3GB - Corsair LL & HD RGB Fans, Corsair Lighting Node Pro.

Thing is the replacement is going to be free and I really need a better battery life. My phone doesnt keep charge throughout a 3 hour school day.

Have you tried doing a factory reset? Maybe there is a battery hogging process in the background
