my system is 

ASROCK 960 GC-GS FX motherboard (AM3+ socket)with

AMD ATHLON II X2 240(AM3 socket) processor

i am looking to change my processor with more powerful

AMD FX4300 which has an (AM3+ socket support)

 

my question is all these years i used AM3+ socket motherboard with AM3 socket processor.

There was no problem untli now

does AM3+ and AM3 are same socket?

can i use "AMD FX 4300 or FX 6300 on my motherboard which is "ASROCK 960 GC-GS FX"?

FX-6300 wouldn't work. Your board only has a 3+1 power phase design. Even though it says it's supported, chances are you aren't going to be able to OC at all provided it even runs stable.

 

In addition, if you are currently using DDR2 with your AM3 processor, you'll have to switch to DDR3 to use an AM3+ chip.

So can i use  FX-4300
