CPU overclock

Just a quick question:

How far could I overclock the i5 6600k with a budget cooler (Hyper 212 Evo or Cryorig H7) and with a high end cooler (NH-D15 or Corsair h115i).

Same goes for the i7 6700k.

With my 6600k i was able to get it to 4 ghz or a thermal take Frio silent 12. But k series chips all vary some overclock better then others and depends if you have luck of the draw best chip.

Each individual chip has a different threshold which is called the "Silicon Lottery" because of small imperfections. Meaning no two cards have exactly the same top overclock speed even if they are the same card. That being said the i5 6600k and i7 6700k both are both made to overclock and have a lot more stability then previous CPU's. I have the i7 6700k overclocked from 4.0 stock to 4.6 very comfortable. 4.0 seem to be the target for the i5 6600 and most people shoot for that so they are basically getting the i7 6700 for $130 less because if you can overclock it to that, then it is basically the same performance as the stock i7 6700.
