Is it better to run a device on a single core or to run in a multiple core. Will it have any change in my power utilization and working speeds. I basically use my laptop(dell inspiron 7559 i7) for CAED modelling and mediocre  games like Arkham Knight and Witcher 3 .

yes its better to get a multi core system. i dont think anything modern can work on a single core system, let alone playing games and CAD modeling.

it will change in working speeds, in a negative way. single core will make the system lag and it will slow down whenever you're doing something in the background.

138 is a good number.
