SLI bridge question

Hey guys,

I have an Asus Z170-A Board and I want to SLI my 1080 and put the new one in the bottom PCIe slot. That's pretty long and I want a higher end bridge. Is this one OK? http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=100-2W-0028-LR

I think it is, just wanted to make sure. Sorry for the rather noobish question.

You literally cannot do that. if you want to SLI your cards, you need to put it in the top x16 slot and the middle x16 slot. the bottom x16 slot can only run at x4 and NVIDIA doesn't allow SLI on x4 slots.

 

You would need to get a 3slot SLI bridge and use it as intended.

Yes if using the first and third slot. You need at least 8x. By the way the HB aren't totally necessary unless you are running 4K. Any rigid LED bridge will do just fine at 1440p and below

No. in order to run SLI on the Asus Z170-A board, you will need a 60mm bridge, or what EVGA mistakenly calls a "1 slot SLI bridge". that EVGA "2 slot bridge" will be too long for your motherboard

Sorry I wasn't familiar with the different spacing on that board, I'm so used to the 80mm between slot 1 and 3
