I just moved and there is no WiFi, for the next month or two i will be living off a mobile hotpot. So i need help moving my steam games from my old PC to my new PC because i cant download anything without waiting 3 years. I have tried putting my old hard drive in my new PC, i copied my game files and moved them in there correct location, took the drive out and nothing worked. I am not keeping my old HDD because its way too loud (that's why i bought a new PC) so i will not leave my drive in there. Any help will be appreciated.

So have you added Steam library? In settings you can choose the library of your game.

go to Steam > Downloads > Steam Library Folders and choose your HDD with games you copied.

you have to tell steam where your new game libraries are located  once you choose the right location it will tell you to "install" and it will rediscover the old game files.

Sorry i'm a noob, Is there like a setting that moves the games to my new HDD, im not planning on keeping the old drive. thanks for the help

What I would is copy the folder called steam apps onto your old hard drive into the new one. Then, click install games from withen steam and it will rediscover existing files.

Once you create a new game library, it should have a "SteamLibrary" folder and a dll file. You can move all of your games from the default library location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamLibrary) into the "SteamLibrary" folder of the new game library while Steam is not running. When you launch Steam, it was as if nothing happened.

I had the same issue with GTA 5. There is a way to retrieve the game files but its not copy and paste. I think it has to do with the backup game files route.
