Yes everything is compatible, but I think that the 4440 is going to bottleneck the GTX 1060 in some CPU intensive games like battlefield 1 for example. When I played the battlefield 1 beta my overclocked i5 6600K 4.6GHz was hovering around 80-90% usage all the time and that's with a GTX 970 which is less powerful than the GTX 1060. But the 4440 is gonna be probably fine for most games.

When CPU usage is above 90% and GPU usage is NOT 99% then you have a CPU bottlenecking. And yes it's working, but it can't catch up with the GPU.

Does high CPU usage mean bottleneck, or just that the CPU is working?

sort of the same thing. high CPU usage means that its close to doing all the work its able to do. once it is doing all the work it can do, then nothing else can work any faster than that. you can't get any additional FPS no matter how much stronger your GPU is because the CPU can't handle doing any more fps.

That being said people are far too paranoid about bottlenecks. an i5 is going to be fine to game on in all situations, you just may not be getting super high refresh rates. He also didn't tell us how much fps he was getting in game. he could be at 80-90% usage at 144+ fps. Its also just the Beta. we could see better performance optimization on the actual release. that is why they have betas, to work out the kinks and make things run more smoothly.

Actually at 100fps, but when I lower the settings and fps increases so does CPU usage increases. That's because the more FPS you have the more CPU usage rises. Let's say you max a game at 4K with max settings and have around 20 fps - then your CPU usage is going to be very low. It really depends on how much FPS you got.

Thank you for telling me exactly what I just said. I would be lost without your infinite wisdom

but yeah, he will be totally fine for 60 fps gaming then, which is where most people play anyway. That is certainly what the GTX 1060 is aimed at. 1080p gaming 60 fps at max presets in any game.
