Noob overclocker here. help?

ok so heres the deal. I'm trying to overclock two gtx 970's and when i go to run the tests on Unigine Vally it runs ok for awhile and then its like my second gpu just craps out on me. is it something i'm doing wrong? ive tried clocking on afterburner and precision and it does the same thing.
