Wireless Repeater

Go to solution Solved by Adalhelm,

I would try to connect to the wireless without the extender and see if the ping still jumps like it does now. If it does not then it is the extender and if the ping is still crazy then it may be the wifi card in the PC but it could be a number of other things as well. I would just work out as many variables as possible to get down to the main cause and it may end up just being your internet connection all together but hopefully its either the wifi card in the PC or the Extender.

Hello fellow Linus Community Members!

I've been having some weird connection problems on my computer. I am a big online gamer and I am using a wireless connection (Not Ideal) but still should do the job while gaming, the problem I have is that there seems to be sudden spikes on my games all the time where ping would jump from a mere 190-220 MS (This is normal for me since I live in the Middle East) to a whopping 300-400 MS too often. The setup I am using is a normal D-Link Router/AP in the living room and a wireless repeater to strengthen the signal towards my room. The Wireless repeater is getting the full signal out of the connection it has from the Router/AP and I am getting a 4/5 signal bar on my wireless connection. I've been wondering if the problem was on the wireless repeater or maybe the wireless network card I am using (its kinda old). I know that ideally you wouldn't want to use a wireless network connection for online games but I've seen tons of my friends using wireless connection and have a fun and a very much playable experience with no problems what so ever. I've been trying to pinpoint the problem so far and I am not quite sure how to do so.

I've attached a picture of how my connection kinda look like while playing an online game. (The software is called Wtfast)  I know this might not be the best program to check my connection to the game servers but it does give you a fair idea of how things are for me.
