NAS Gaming Rig

Just thoughts and ideas, I have a 5 screen gaming set up, and wanted to hear from the rest of the community on how I should optimize my system for both gaming and as a NAS.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 8-Core 4790K Watercooled
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate
Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB
Storage: 
    Six 2TB 2.5" Drives 5400RPM RAID 5
    Boot Drive 500GB SSD
    OS Drive 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Graphics: Two NVIDIA GEFORCE 980FTW Edition SLI Bridged
Raid Card: HighPoint RocketRAID 2720SGL 8-Port SAS 6Gb/s PCIe 2.0 x8 RAID HBA
Network Card: TP-Link Archer T9E AC1900

That is going to kill your power bill. Are you sure you want them together?

What you mean? Power bill hasn't been an issue. I kinda just want to turn my 12TB into a NAS, just looking for input on that.

If your NAS is going to be on all day, it may. 

 

You can set your drives to be shared and then add "Network Locations" to all computers that will use it.

My comp, is already on all day. It doesn't need much RAM when I integrate it into virtualization right? 2GB should be good enough?

Why would you need virtualization? Windows can do the sharing for you. Go to Disk Management if you want to set up RAID.

Is setting up a RAID through the Windows OS better than setting up RAID through the actual hardware bios?

It's the same thing to me. If you're okay doing it in BIOS, go for it. Is there a reason you want to use virtualization?
