So I've heard but just hadn't believe it until I used my friends pc but to be fair he has an M.2 ssd so it's not gonna be as fast as his but I would expect it to be faster than my hard drive.

I have an M.2 SSD too. The jump from a regular SATA SSD wasn't too great. But coming from a hard drive is like, a different league :)

Does anyone happen to know if an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW will happen to fit inside a Fractal Design Node 804?

It will fit.

Maybe if I find a motherboard with an M.2 slot I might buy one of Intel's new M.2 ssd the 600p I think it's called.

I think a regular SATA SSD is the best value to be honest. Be careful when shopping for an M.2 motherboard on the Z/H97 platform. Most if not all of them will only do M.2 "gen 1", which uses only 2 PCIe lanes. That means that your speed will be capped at around 1.1gb/s (at least in theory) and you will not be getting 100% of your purchase. Now, that's still double the SATA speeds, but why pay for something and use like half of its performance? Especially when, the real life difference between the M.2 and the SATA in daily use is minimal at best. Again, this coming from someone that does own an M.2 drive and likes it.

Lastly, even if the motherboard could do "gen 2" and saturate 4 PCIe lanes, you have to keep in mind that your CPU (and almost all consumer CPUs anyway, even Skylake etc) can only support 16 lanes. What that means is that if you were to add anything to your PCIe slots your GPU would have to run at an x8 config rather than x16. That translates to once again minimal difference, but there's that.

Hmm, I see. Well definitely thanks for the info. I think I just might go with a SATA SSD instead for now at least. Might then move on to other components. But as far as my GPU goes it really needs an upgrade.
