Looking for a begninner 3D for my first printer and my budget is around 350 id like to have a fairly large print volume as well
Thanks

K I swear this was like $350 a few months ago, but it's $400 now. That's about as good as you can get on the budget end of things. https://printrbot.com/shop/assembled-printrbot-play/

Usually "budget" and "large build volume" aren't things you here in conjunction when talking about a single printer, however I think the OG Prusa i3 may be the best option if the Printrobot play is too small. The build volume should be around 200mm^3 (about 8"^3) but it's $600. If you can get either of these two as a kit, DO IT. It helps so much in the long run when you've built the machine that troubleshooting isn't very daunting. Lastly, make sure you pick up a spool of either Colorfabb or Fabberdashery filament.

I was looking at either https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018GZBC3Y/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me= or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16828840024 would these be any good? The da vinci one worries me because of the talk about the software in the reviews

Don't get the printrbot play the extruder is complete shit and after a month it will fuck up nearly any print that takes longer than 10 minutes no matter how much you clean it.

I guarantee you you're doing something wrong. Printrbot is known for making good printers that print well.

Go watch barnacules nerdgasm maybe he has a video for one. I personally built my own printer so I dont really know.

How would I go about making my own and what would be the cost? Is their software etc that is open source to install? As well as tutorials on building?

I believe the first is a prusa i3 clone, but it's made out of metal so it can't be as bad as the one I got many moons ago. Still wouldn't trust it as it doesn't have a reputation for anything. I know the second one is a piece of crap, QC is shit on those.

If you can save up to about $1000, the Ultimaker original is a fantastic machine

All he talks about is ultimakers. For a good reason, but it doesn't give perspective on other machines that are good. Also I don't really think he knows what he's talking about when it comes to anything other than programming. I suggest The 3D Printing Nerd and Thomas Sanladerer. They make good reviews on a lot of different machines.

Yeah he's doing something wrong. Most likely crap filament or the wrong temperature.

Don't do that if it's your first. You could do a Prusa i3, but it's better just to get a kit so you don't have to worry about sourcing each part. Best of all? A warranty on the whole damn thing. The firm ware and slicing software are all open source, along with the plans to build the machine, but it's worth it to let someone else find the parts for you.

Id like to learn how to use them and use it for fun and possibly profit lol

Okay, if you want to learn how to use them, go to a maker space. I don't know where you live, but some cities have community maker spaces that anyone can walk into and use the materials and tools available. Some require a membership, some do not. The one near me has two ultimakers, a laser cutter, a metal shop... the list goes on. Poke around your area and learn from the people there about the technology. And take up 3D modeling, I like Autodesk products as I find them intuitive and you can get them all for free (if you're a student) here: http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/all All you need is an Autodesk account.

For profit, you can make and sell things on Etsy, or provide a printing service for people, but there's not much beyond that. Sure there's printing parts for certain reprap printers, but that takes a lot of time and the demand for those is pretty low as far as I can tell. The value in these machines is what you can learn from how the work, what they can create, and the skills you develop from these things.

Hackertosher is right! You should first learn the moddeling like Autodesk 123D Design or Tinkercad. If you can work with them you can really get a great use out of a 3D Printer. You cloud also take a look at the Monoprice Select Mini because you can get it dirt cheap (at least in the US). I wouldn't buy a davinci because you are locked down to there filament. You should also take a look at Chuck Hellabuyck and MakerMuse. I hope I helped you. I own a Robox great printer but a bit pricey.
