Hi I'm soon to build a computer that I will mainly use for gaming and thought to save some money I run linux as my os, I don't know if I will be able to play against windows users, are there and problems or disadvantages playing on linux compared to windows. also I if anyone knows any websites to compare computer components to see what is compadible for os x and I am also looking into building having it be a hackintosh

Honestly if money is your only concern... Windows 10 can be bought for 20-35 dollars with legitimate licenses... Windows 7 can be found even cheaper... ;)

To keep it simple : Yes you can play Games on Linux, but you won't be able to start many Games (because most of them is for Windows). You could try it with Applications like "PlayOnLinux" or "Wine" but this doesn't always work and even if it does you won't have the same performance than with a windows pc.


Personally I like linux but I won't suggest it as an OS for gaming, especially when u can get Win7 Pro Keys for 15$ on Amazon ^^

Which means nothing. Linux support is patchy at best, horrifyingly bad at worst.

There are almost a thousand... But what proportion of top titles? And of those how many run well (not just technically run). 

 

And this is before considering one of the two major GPU manfacturers has basically non-existent drivers on a wide swath of their more recent cards.
