Alright So I'm running a E5 2620 v2 on the x79 platform, and I just orded new stuff... but anyway I noticed that the baby runs a little hot at idle, like 35 C but I ran an AIDA64 for 1 hour, and it only got up to 45 C SO, my questions, is why do run hot at idle, but don't get very hot at all during load? btw I'm cooling with it a noctua u12s and 1 nf-f12

35C is not hot at idle

My CPU has overkill cooling and sits around 50C with the fans off, and there is no difference to the life of your CPU between 35 and 50, and even 70

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Xeons are for servers. Some servers use ultra low profile cooling that is very limited in performance so they have to run cool otherwise they'll get too hot and for company's with heaps of servers, that heat adds up!! Also heat reduces life span, so basically, when you run a good cooler like you have with an already cool running chip, you get an extremely cool running xeon!!

Yeah I know it's not hot, I'm not concerned about the life of my chip, I'm just curious why it doesn't go up like at all, my other pc running a 4790k sits at 26 and goes up to 58 under load.

Because its a bottom of the line chip. A high power chip will use much power poewr.
