Is G-Sync/Freesync Worth It?

So to get a 1440p display with 144hz it costs roughly $500 CAD but if I want one with G-Sync it's $800. Is it worth it? Is G-Sync worth it in general even if it isn't $300 more?

In the case of a 1070, I would say yes, since playing at 144Hz locked is almost impossible.

Check out the ViewSonic lineups. They seem to have the best prices atm in USD.

Right now, no. According to the video's predictions, Nvidia will have to soon because they can't compete with something that's free and is exactly the same.

 

But I think you should be fine on non Gsync. Tweak settings so that the older games run at 144fps locked, and newer more demanding games run at 72fps. That way you're running at vsync and don't get screen tearing.
