Upgrading my phone

Hi, I have been thinking about what iPhone to upgrade to, I currently have an iPhone 5s, and my contract is up beginning of February. I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the iPhone 7 then, or wait till the next iPhone is released that year. (2017) Also, if you say I should go with iPhone 7, which one? iPhone 7 or 7 plus? Thank you for your feedback in advance.
