Backplate issues with the case.

I'm using old parts from a Dell computer so a lot of stuff is a custom fit. The backplate (which is plastic) for the aio extends past the top of the cut out for it in the new case. It seems I have a few options:

1. I just use it how it is (so it will be slanted relative to the mobo).

2. I use some sort of washer to space out the bottom so it's even (what kind of washer should I use?)

3. I extend the cut out by cutting the metal.

Simply put I need to know whether any of these will not work (for example is there a structural reason not to do #1) and which one you would suggest I do. If you have any other solutions to the problem, please share them. I also want to know whether a backplate is there for structural support for the mobo, or whether it's just there to hold the cooler in place. Since mine is made of plastic, I don't want to break my mobo if it's a structural component and not up to the task.

Pictures of both sides as well as the issue I'm facing with the cut out.

Also I know @Tocsin_786 has this profile pic, but I had it before I knew he had it and I'm too lazy to change it.

Do you mean for the picture? I need it for a reference point so I know where the backplate would be. Or do you mean something else.

from what I'm seeing there's enough clearance between the mobo and case for that backplate to fit

 

that plate needs to be mounted with the mobo outside of the case

That won't work. I measured it and where the screws go (the part that sticks out from the rest on both sides of the backplate) is too thick to fit in between the mobo and the case. It would work if the screw holes on the mobo where placed just slightly lower, but the top screws are on the very edge of the cut out (just enough room to get the screws through).

I've had the same pic since I started using the forums in 2013, and i updated it with the hat on the first Christmas bash of the forum, and @GrimNeo ill be watching you (；一_一)
