Updated my motherboard bios via instant flash on an asrock 970 extreme4 and completed all the way to a reboot prompt but after that when I rebooted and tried to load my boot drive it remains at a black screen with the blinking cursor.

tried clearing my cmos and doing it again, also selecting ahci mode then selecting my drive from the boot menu

i can still boot to the bios at least..

help would be much appreciated as I don't want to have to look into a new MB

cpu: fx 8350 (on the supported list for MB bios)

gpu: 980 strix

motherboard:  asrock 970 extreme4

If you can enter bios/uefi then it's nothing more than software.

Is your drive actually detected?

Maybe try reflashing the bios via a USB drive? If not make sure your SATA and all other connections are solid. Also how much head room do you have on your PSU? This kinda thing happened to me a few years ago turned out my PSU couldn't get my drive enough power.
