AMD GPU driver question

Go to solution Solved by mgsstar,

You would have to get the beta drivers since this is the only driver that supports the 280X and older drivers may not work:

Feature Highlights of The AMD Catalyst 13.11 Beta Driver for Windows

Includes support for the new products:

  • AMD Radeon™ R9 280X
  • AMD Radeon R9 270X
  • AMD Radeon R7 260X
  • AMD Radeon R7 250
  • AMD Radeon R7 240

The space between your heatsink and gpu is fine and will not cause any problems.

I just got my 280x today and was going to install the drivers but I wasn't sure if I should use the drivers on the disk since the latest drivers I found on AMD's sight are beta drivers? Or will that not make a difference? (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx) Also on the site I'll want the regular driver not "mobility" one correct?

Finally I just wanted to make sure this is a large enough space between the heatsink and GPU: http://i.imgur.com/Bls6jNn.jpg

Thanks!

Always use the online drivers. ALWAYS. Unless of course there is a defect with the latest driver causing you to back track.
