I recently built a gaming computer and ran into a little problem, I recently started having a buzzing in any headset I plug into the front or back of the computer. The buzzing is like a insect close to your ear through process of elimination, i found out the the issue was coming from the monitor my computer is hooked it, anytime the monitor is turned off, the buzzing stops, but the second the monitor comes back on the buzzing comes back. It occurs with any headset. I tried a standard sony headset with 3.5mm male jack with no mic, and I also tried my turtle beach x12. Any ideas how to fix this issue? Sorry if I dont responds to any replies, I am actually just getting ready for bed.

Update: I tried to take the white DVI cable I was using for the dual monitor setup and it completely stopped the noise in the headset, any idea what this could be?

electrical noise.

if the video card is a bad one and it's close to the audio circutry there will be interference.

try usin digital video cables and check if that fixes it, or try the front ports

Electric noise doesn't have to be transmitted via something physically next to a cord. It's likely, in fact, related to how the signal is getting to the jack. My guess is, for some reason, the signal going to the monitor is causing a problem with the signal going to the audio. If, as you say, switching to DVI got rid of the problem it is likely because the video signal is taking a different route to that output and not coming into contact with the problem. It's likely nothing specifically related to the DVI or monitor beyond that... though I wouldn't bet my life on that statement or anything :D

There's a bunch of longer term solutions to this problem. They are (in order of price)

If you can move the graphics card (or the audio card if you have one) to a different slot it may solve the issue.

If you add a USB DAC it may solve the issue for cheap (6-10 bucks), but it means bypassing your current audio card (which could be a good thing if its just the mobo).

If you add a real standalone DAC it should solve the problem as well, but will cost a lot more (50-100). You may get other audio improvements out of having a DAC, but it doesn't particularly sound like you have a setup that would benefit greatly from this.

Of course, you could just leave your monitor hooked up to DVI :D. Let me know what you decide and if it works!

If I could describe the setup so maybe you could help me out a little better, I have two monitors, one for my console games and another for my gaming pc. I run tow 3.5 mm Male to male audio cables from the two monitors into a 6 hole spliter, like for ipods and headphones. I then connect the green cord to the spliter and the pink cord goes into the a 3.5mm male to female audio wire, to the computer in order to use the mic. The buzzing does go up and down with the audio as well. Is this maybe a ground loop? Or an issue with my PC

Look into an external dac or the not suggested method of PCIE soundcard. Digital Audio converter (any dac, cheap or not) will reduce the noise floor you're experiencing. The shielding inside your case isn't sufficient and causing interference.
