Audio cable problems

Hello,

I have a red aux cable that came with my Sound Blaster E1 Headphone amp.

(its a good amp btw)

The cable itself seems fine, no bends or broken wires, but, for some reason it will not be recognised as a headphone output on my macbook air.

I have plugged it into my phone and it works fine.

the aux input on the mac is fine with normal headphones, and, i have tried different orintations such as connecting the amp to the end of the cable etc..

I don't know what to do...

Hello,

Try a different cable, the E1 isn't "compatible" with Mac's for this reason:  http://mashtips.com/apple-headphone-on-android-or-windows/ (although it works fine with iPods, iPads, and iPhones.). There are adapters that switch the mic/ground pin to make things compatible, but honestly a regular "3 pole" cable will solve your problem. I had this same problem with my wifes MacBook too(I just use USB when I use her computer, since it charges the E1).
