Gtx 1070 Gpu usage issue

Recently after puting my pc into a new case my gtx 1070 has been having issues with its gpu usage it will go to 72 oc then drop the usage to 40 percent which cripples my framerate ive set the temp limit to 83 in msi afterburner but it still keeps dropping

did you set an overclock for the 1070?

i did ive had 220 + on the mhz and memory ever since ive got it

try removing the overclock and see if the problem subsides

what's your power and voltage limits?

uh my power supply is 430 watts and i dont know the voltage limits ive never changed it ive only had this issue after i installed my pc into a new case

something must have happened when you moved the pc into the new case... what's the rest of your rig's specs? also that 430 w PSU may be holding things back... a 1070 requires 500 W minimum.

the psu has never been a problem but the specs are

* i7 3770k 3.5 ghz

*16 gb corsair ddr3 1600mhz 

*gtx 1070 founders

*500 gb hard drive

if you think it is, reseat it. 

 

but i'd really suggest you get a bigger capacity PSU. just to have some headroom

If you think it might have been an install issue: Not seated in slot properly, power not connected properly, etc... Then you should check that. It's the easiest thing to do.

so ive reinstalled the gpu but now it seems to be idle at 53 oc which is way above normal and also its using 1506 of its gpu clock while im on chrome which it never does

in Nvidia settings, did you set to prefer maximum performance?

switched and same thing still happing

not sure what else you can do.. maybe RMA?
