I've been using Sprint for 3 years, and the 3G speed are god awful (like 1megabit down 0.2 up). Would if be worth switching to AT&T, or T-Mobile. (There's no 4g in my area for any network, but they may be slightly faster, and I would like to use a gsm service instead of CDMA so I can use unlocked phones) :(

Or should I just stick with Sprint.

I have no experience with american carriers, but could you ask a friend what the internet speeds are like? I'm sure you know some people on different carriers.

Thats personally my biggest fear. Im also grandfathered in at a great price so if I were to switch to Verizon I would spend 3-4 times as much and have a data cap

I use an Unlocked Xperia Z1 C6903 at the moment.

I've recently switched to T-Mobile in the US. Coming from AT&T where I got "no service" to 1 bar... even with the "free" microcell (shitty repeater) they offered I'd never be able to make calls, hear people when they do connect, send texts, etc.

On AT&T using speedtest.net app or sensorly I could sometimes finish the dl part of the speed test, but ul would time out and never complete. Not once in over 50 tries. My new service is godlike by comparison simply because I get service. I almost forgot to mention our family is saving ~$70-90 a month now that we have switched to T-Mobile. We only have 2.5GB of data per line on 3 lines. It's an extra $10/mo for unlimited on each line separately. Still way cheaper than AT&T.

I believe the test was with full bars of HSPA+. LTE comes and goes in a sporadic manner for my area, but it is awesome when I am getting it. I always have at least full bars of 3G. Most of the time full HSPA+. Occasionally 1-3 bars of LTE.

Sprint is garbage. Switch ASAP. I have three friends who have it and they hate it. Switch to T-Mo or AT&T's Straight Talk

Only other company besides sprint i have personal experience with is t mobile, and i never had any complaints when i was with them.

But sprint works well in my area, and it's the only one that fits my needs. I generally pull upwards of 50 gb per month through my data network, and 70 bucks a month for unlimited data can't really be beat, especially considering i rarely use minutes or texts.

I don't know your usage scenario or what plans are available on other carriers, but personally I'd say go t mobile if you wanted to change. Dad and step mom use AT&T and they regularly complain about service and speed.
