^ that is my build and am wondering if I need thermal paste for the cpu. I heard that cpu already has a pre-applied thermal paste on the cpu so I don't need one. Also, are two SETA cables enough for this pc build to function properly? one for the sdd and one for the hdd. I'm not sure if seta cables are included in my particular motherboard so do I have to buy more seta cables? In fact, do I need to buy any other cables for the pc to work like HDMI cables to connect to the monitor? Final question, my friend recommend me to get a fan so I added it to the build list but where would be the best place to put it? Thank you!

PS: This is my first time building my PC

1- Normally, the Heatsink (Not the CPU) comes with thermal past applied to it or in separate tube. In your case, the i5 comes with a stock cooler that has thermal paste on it, so no worry. (But the paste on it isn't the best)
2- Two SATA should be enough if you dont have a DVD player. Again, motherboards normally come with SATA cables, you could ask them if they include cables.
3- The fan your friend referred to should be beside the IO shield. Though it won't be necessary to have it as it will only lower your temps by 1 or 2 degree C .

thank you. so is it fine if I just remove the fan from the build? Will the pc be properly cooled without it? And also, do I need to buy an Hdmi to dvi cable in order to connect the monitor to the motherboard so I can use the monitor at all?

I would get a higher end PSU with that build.

just wondering, is it necessary? Like am I going to be underperforming if I don't? Sorry I am a bit new to pc building and specs

Yes, it's fine. You don't need the fan.

I think the 1060 have at least 1 DVI port, so you won't be needing a HDMI to DVI, and pls, don't connect your monitor to the MB....

Sorry. I'm extremely new to PC building. So just wondering, how do I connect the monitor to the pc build and which cable do I use?

Depend on your monitor, there are mainly 4 kind of video port: VGA, DVI, Display Port and HDMI.

VGA is usually blue

DVI is white

DP and HDMI looks similar, HDMI's connector is symmetrical (Like a USB) and DP is not. You can find pictures on google to ID them

On the other side. On the back of your rig, there's these kind of ports. Some on the MB and some on the graphic card. You will want to use the ones on the graphic card.

Then it's just connecting to the one that is the same as your monitor's port.

ok, so looking at my monitor it has a hdmi port, so i get an hdmi cable and connect it to the graphics card? is this cable fine for connecting the graphics card to the monitor so that I can use the monitor without problem? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dynex-6-hdmi-cable-black/7525078.p?id=1218851304132&skuId=7525078&ref=212&loc=1&ksid=f72da8f4-765d-49ee-84de-c9a843255c7b&ksprof_id=16&ksaffcode=pg106159&ksdevice=c&gclid=Cj0KEQjwr7S-BRD96_uw9JK8uNABEiQAujbffBAWPceky8uZOWCs_cU5gwQ8vg7B0DhNsA4guMEWTj4aAlAF8P8HAQ

alrighty. thank you very much for the help. Is there anything else I should worry about on my build for it to be all functional?

You shouldn't be worried for now. Since this is your first time building PC, you are probably gonna have problems while building it, but don't panic, there will always be a solution.
