I am looking to build a gaming rig

and have settled on one of these three cards

the MSI Lightning 770 (£359) or the Asus R9 280x DCII (£276) (UK) or the Club 3D 7970 Royal ace

or the R290?

All of these cards get similar frame rates and temps

how ever with the upcoming release of mantle which may offer great performance gains for AMD cards

I am leaning towards the AMD cards.

Thoughts?

I would go with the R290 R280 because it's a good card and you get free games because of the Never Settle bundle.

great advice .... if only it wouldn't be twice as expensive as the previously listed cards :P

+1 for the Asus AMD Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II. It's a better card for the price and it also supports Mantle.
