Go to solution Solved by insyght,

Following some recommendations I have updated my system to this:

Core i5 6400

ASRock H110M-ITX

Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB DDR4 RAM

3GB Palit GTX 1060

240GB AData Premier SSD

1TB Seagate HDD

XFX TS 550W PSU (For later upgrades)

Case and peripherals stay the same,

thanks for your recommendations, guys!

Current Config:

Core i5 4460 (170€)

ASRock H81M-ITX So.1150 (60€)

8GB Corsair ValueSelect DDR3 Kit (36€)

2GB MSI GTX 960 2GD5T OC (175€)

240 GB Crucial BX200 SSD (66€)

1TB Seagate Desktop HDD (46€)

Corsair CX430 PSU (44€)

Thermaltake Core V1 Case (43€)

Peripherals:

Tt eSPORTs Challenger Prime (35€)

Asus VP228TE 21,5" Monitor (100€)

All adding up to ~792€.

Please also give suggestions on better parts, but the pricing should not go 50 "price units"  (whatever) over the cost of the part you would change.

Sorry for Prices in EUR, was too lazy to PC-Part-Picker it up for you all. *EDIT: I know that the ASRock MB does not have USB 3.0 Headers, but my Budget doesnt allow for much higher priced components.*

Happy ranting!

Try to get a RX480 or GTX1060

The GTX960 2GB is kinda slow as compared to the current generation

How about these?

Would be options in my price range (German links):

Would need to change my PSU to 500W tho, but that should be no problem.

Price would add up to 860€, that would be acceptable :)

The power supply and GPU could be better. I'd also switch to Skylake with DDR4 RAM instead of Haswell:

1) i5-6400 is only 2.7Ghz, and as I don't plan on overclocking, will that in any way impact my performance in comparison to the 4460?

2) What is wrong with the SSD i chose? No hate on your decision, I just wanna know.

3) 550W seems a bit too much, I was going with Corsair CX500 after changing my build to earlier suggestions.

I will see what I can do with the 6400, or if I can even fit a 6500 and a GTX 1060 in there.

Thank you for creating a list for me. :)

Thank you for creating a list for me, that's an effort most people don't take. :)

1. Clockspeed isn't everything. The i5 6400 has a higher IPC which makes it a more powerful/faster CPU overall. On top of that, it utilises DDR4 RAM.

2. It's slow. The one I chose is faster.

3. Please don't look at the amount of power a power supply can output, look at the quality of the components. The XFX TS 550W is a much better quality power supply than the CX500. I wouldn't advise getting the Corsair.

Any particular store you're ordering your components from?

Would highly recommend a Skylake over a Haswell.

How about a beQuiet! Pure Power L8? This would be my first build so I am not that good with knowing how the build quality is determined. I'm just looking for decent parts that are not really overpriced just for having a brand name at the side.

Not quite a good power supply... I agree with your point about not buying by brand and rather by model. However, a PSU is going to be the component that will be running the entire PC; the last thing you want to do is cheap out on it. Spending the extra €20 for a decent power supply like the XFX TS 550W I recommended is a long term investment to ensure that the PC will run for a long time.

Pure Power L8 isn't very good.

Here's a psu tier list, get at least a tier 3. Tier 4 if you really need to save.

Ok, I have looked up some other PSUs and went to the LTT-topic PSU-tier-list.

I think for what components I have by now, a XFX TS 430W is gonna do it.
