I'm in the process of planning out an office PC for my mum but my problem is she uses two monitors when working and every mini-itx motherboard I've found has had only one hdmi port. Does anyone know of a really cheap gpu I could get so I could output to two monitors via hdmi? This PC will never be used for gaming (asides from the odd game of solitaire) so the performance of the card is not important so long as it will work for at least 4-5 years.

Thanks.

EDIT: It could also be 1 HDMI + 1 DisplayPort and I can just buy an adapter.

Maybe get an dvi to hdmi cable and a board with dvi and hdmi outputs...tada two hdmi for monitors to hook into.

EDIT: I do this the other way for my ps4 to hook into a monitor.

That's not a bad idea, thank you.

GT740_SC_Single_angle.png

that's two DVI connectors (can passively adapt to HDMI, or you can even buy DVI to HDMI cables) and a HDMI port. (although to me it looks awfully lot like mini hdmi, naughy naughty evga.)

quick summary about the GT740:

- its a potato

- it will drive a display, pretty much any combination of displays you can strap to this thing will do just fine. (even triple 4K, at 30Hz because hdmi tho...)

- it can actually do some light gaming, a league of legends, dota 2, cs:go, and the like are no problem as long as you turn off anti aliasing and things like shadows

- it can be found rather cheaply, and since it doesnt use an extra power connector you could in the end if the build is replaced shelf it as a spare for testing. (or for media center PCs, these do amazing for media center PCs)

- although in terms of specs and price the GT740 differs very little from its lower end -30, -20, and -10 alternatives, in reality they seem to differ greatly, and prove much more reliable.

i know a guy that got a "best buy gaming rig" (hold onto your hats) with stunning specs like FX6300 and a GT610.. the GT610 bottlenecks the FX6300, like actual harcore bottleneck, in minecraft... :P

Thanks :) but to answer your question.  I saw some hd 4670 somethings going for under 20usd the other day on ebay, that would work but you'd still need 2 dvi-hdmi adapters.

i'd recommend against those, they usually have a lower maximum resolution. my parents have a similar one in one of their company machines, and it plainly refuses to boot with a 1080p display.
