Wii MotionPlus doesn't detect Nunchuk

I have a Wii MotionPlus accessory for the Wii Remote. It is external, not built into the remote. When I connect the Nunchuk in Wii Sports Resort to the accessory, the game doesn't detect the Nunchuk. It worked fine before. Without the Wii MotionPlus attachment, the remote detects the Nunchuk fine. This may have been going on for years, since I didn't care about it for quite a while. Does anyone know what's going on, and how to fix the problem? Thanks

I had the same thing happen with a MotionPlus, one of the conductors broke free from the tab in the center of the connector.  I ended up just buying new wiiimotes with the built in MP but I remember seeing a guide on fixing the connector.
