Hello all,

Im getting a pretty annoying issue at the moment. My pc won't boot, it gives me the error that there is no boot device found. I use an SSD, but that doesn't seem to be the problem since the BIOS doesn't recognise my HDD either. I don't really know what to do, none of my devices show up in the bios, I made sure everything is connected the right way,...

The thing is that I have had some issues lately with Windows crashing with a 'Kernel Power 41' error when gaming. Presumably this was the PSU, since it's a Corsair VS550. Could this be the problem? Are there any other things I can try? I don't have a spare PSU laying around.

thanks

Could you connect both of the drives to another device just to check their functionality?

Is the BIOS bootpriority in the right order?

Edit: I read several threads and the Kernel Power 41 Error is most likely to be caused by an indeed defective/weak powersupply. Could you borrow a PSU from a friend/other person to test it out? Additionally the drives may not be provided with power hence not get displayed in the BIOS

Well I just connected the SSD to my laptop but I have no idea where I can select boot sequence, so I don't know if it's the SSD or what.

I can't even set the BIOS boot priority since it doesn't even detect any drives.

Sorry for the doublepost I guess. What's your powersupply? Can you connect the drives to a different SATA power cable (like in, completely different cable harness)? Maybe both issues are PSU related.

The SSD sould appear in your diskmanager (if you are using your laptop with windows running) in some form at least. Right-click the windows button and choose the diskmanager.

I hope I got you right ._.

It's a Corsair VS550.

Also I can't connect my SSD to my laptop next to the boot drive, I can only attach one. When I attach the SSD to my laptop it just says there's no boot image found.

Have you tried different SATA power connectors on your PSU? One cable harness could have died off (even if there's just a slight possibility).

I guess the SSD functions then. My next bet would be either the actual SATA connector on the motherboard or the drives power.

Ok so my new PSU just came in. It's still the same problem. I've already tried various different sata connectors on the motherboard, as well as an entirely new sata cable.

I really have no idea what to do anymore.

That's extremely strange. So the drives do work in other systems independently, right? Did you doublecheck your BIOS settings in case SATA drives are disabled? My next advice would be to clear the CMOS on your MB and see whether that changes something.

Gigabytes manual:

And sorry for asking your PSU model, just realized that you have everything in your signature.

Strange that other members don't hop onto this topic :/

I already have found the problem, my month old SSD apparentely died on me.

It doesn't get recocgnised in a different desktop either.

Thanks for the help anyway!
