Upgrading build but using same ssd

So I've decided to upgrade my current build, however I am keeping the same SSD (for windows) and HDD (for storage). Neither have been formatted and I am unable to do so because I have already begun taking apart my pc. Included in my upgrades is a cd copy of windows 10, more ram, and a new GPU (1070). So I guess what my question is, what will happen when I boot the system with new ram and gpu but still use the SSD and HDD with all my files on them (Including old version of Windows 8). I'd like to format the SSD and just install with my new windows copy so is there a prompt to do that upon first boot? Oh and one more thing, I will be using the same PSU CPU and MOBO.

Thanks for any help,

Jake

Your mobo will probably just crash once, but you'll OS and hdd should just adapt. If you want to format the SSD, just boot your not Windows 10 CD not your SSD and you can format from there. But I hope you realise, that you will lose all data on the SSD if you 'format' it.
