Hey guys, so recently got an Acer XG270HU and im trying to get freesync working but when i go onto Radeon settings it says that freesync isn't supported. I'm running a R9 390 which should be compatible but even so its not working. Ive been searching on forums for a while and a reoccurring solution is to make sure that the DP format is set to 1.2 on your monitor settings but when i went to check this the option is greyed out. I feel like this is the reason i cant get freesync running so if anyone knows why this is happening and how to fix it id very much appreciate it. :)

Note- i know for a fact its not a problem with the cable itself.

Yeah, this is one of the things i found as well, i already had the latest driver for AMD so i found and downloaded the latest driver for acer but i cant change the DP format on my monitor which is the only thing i havent been able to do. I cant find anything about other people having greyed out option either :/

I'm pretty confident ive got all my drivers up to date so i dont think thats part of the issue.

unless u did the monitor driver manually, that probably IS your issue

So should i uninstall the current driver and then install it automatically instead of manually?

Freesync to work you have to 1st go download the Acer driver for windows here, find your model, download the latest driver, and then Unzip the folder to a place you can find it later (desktop, download folder...etc).

Since Acers driver is not signed, you will need to disable Windows driver signature enforcement (instructions to do this for Win8 or Win10) to install it.

Now that driver signature enforcement is disabled, open device manager and click on the monitors drop down, right click on "Generic PnP Monitor" and select "update driver software..." -> "Browse my computer for driver software" ->"Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer", then towards the bottom right, select "Have Disk...". Next choose the "browse" option and find your way to the Acer driver folder (that you downloaded and unziped earlier) and click "ok". A warning sign will apear, choose the option to install it anyway.

Thanks, ive done all of that now but the DP option in the monitor settings is still greyed out and freesync is still saying its not supported. Is there anything else i could try?
