Hello.

After seeing a broken GTX 760 for £15, I am considering buying it. If I do decide to get it, what are the basic things I should try to fix it, and by the way, I know the oven method doesn't work, Louis Rossmann told me as much, but any basic things I should try?

Thanks in advance

You can start by removing the cooler and seeing if any thermal compound has gotten into the PCB and if you can see any corrosion / burnt components on it.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

second is to fire up the oven and bake the card to re-flow any dry solder joints.

My friend, louis rossmann says that that isn't true, it fixes the card for a while, but then it breaks again and you could have fried some internal parts

totally depends what joint has gone dry - there is no hard fast rule that applies in this instance - the difficulty in baking the card is getting it hot enough to lose up the solder but not hot enough to dry out any low-grade capacitors.

its a last resort.
