Protocols for Wireless

Go to solution Solved by Skiiwee29,

Its actually B/A/G/N/AC. N is still the most popular and widely used today. AC is a newer standard that is still making its way into the market on devices for support. As long as you have N support, that is all you really need.

Just wondering what types of protocols I should use for wireless standards. a/b/g/n/ac? Is it better to just have the option to use as many as possible or it it better to just use certain protocols? I feel like it just provides more compatibility if the option to choose as many as possible is selected, but I'm not sure if that's the best option to choose.

The protocols only affect the maximum throughput values. It can help if you do alot of LAN transfers, but honestly most dont over wireless. AC provides the largest maximum throughput.

Okay. So is the order a/b/g/n/ac? Like AC being the best and a being the more outdated side of things?

Its actually B/A/G/N/AC. N is still the most popular and widely used today. AC is a newer standard that is still making its way into the market on devices for support. As long as you have N support, that is all you really need.

Interesting

Are you sure that's the proper order? Wiki says otherwise

I do believe that the B standard was first, but they both were released September 1999.
