Well I was BCLK overclocking (since I have a xeon) and it was fine O.o cinebenched fine and ran fine on a few other stress tests , then booted up battlefield 3 and I went straight into a BSOD, cleared CMOS and booted into my BIOS and reset my settings just to make sure that the OC was reverted - I booted back up (went into windows since I'm dual booting 7 and ubuntu ) and :/ it BSODed again and since it's infinitely BSODed , managed to finally boot into Windows and started up skype - pressed the call button and BSODed :/ so I tried to boot up into Ubuntu and Kernal Panic - not syncing: Fatal Machine check with Processor context corrupt ? I used the MemOK! Feature on my motherboard to check my ram so that's fine - I tried swapping out the hard drive with another hard drive I have that I was supposed to format since it's bitlocked and it made it to the bitlocked screen perfectly fine :( I'm really at a loss of what to do >_< I can boot into Windows but I get BSODed most of the time during the starting windows screen

Did you manually reset the settings or did you go with the Bios' reset all?

When you cleared CMOS, were the settings changed when you looked in BIOS? Or did you still have to manually change it? If you had to manually change it, maybe consider pulling out the battery?

You made sure to change all your other multipliers like PCI clock when doing fsb OC right?

Thing is 1155 socket is overclock by FSB is kind of hard.

I'm not certain since I've only worked with one Intel board in my life, but when you raise FSB you're going to be bumping clocks for everything (specifically PCI lanes) which can't really handle that much of an increase which could very likely damage your board.

Going to need someone else to confirm.

not socket 1155 , I'm socket 1366 :P so x58

Regardless, if the motherboard didn't have PCI clock set to auto or manually adjusted an FSB overclock could deviate lane clocks too far to the point of damage to either motherboard or GPU.

(again don't quote me on this)

The question is what's the issue here? I believe it's the HDD since I've had quite a few issues with it in the past :/ and Windows constantly wants to check it for consistency but it could also be the cpu... If it's the CPU I'll just buy a new one :/ it cost like £30 so not too much of a blow *shrug*

I can acc boot in normal mode :/ safe mode gets me nowhere - well created an ubuntu usb and looks like I'll be running off of that till I get a HDD xD gonna test the USB and if that doesn't work then we know it's the CPU ^_^

Bear in mind it could still be GPU/MB. Before you rule that CPU is broken, take it to a PC shop and have them test it for you.

Like I said, high FSB clocks without compensating have been known to kill GPUs and motherboards.

I didn't think you had onboard, might actually be HDD then.

Increasing vcore helped but after increasing vcore, booting up once for a while then bsod and then resetting back to stock it worked for the same amount of time as if I'd upped the vcore? I have no control over the fsb and I can't add anything to the uncore voltage it seems as there's no option for it? I managed to put ubuntu on a usb in the short period of time I had in windows and guess what? It worked fine (besides the lack of gpu drivers :P thank you nvidia) and I heard it start up through the headphones in my onboard graphics that rules out my motherboard I guess and my cpu (since I booted?) And my gpu I think so that pretty much leaves my hdd ? :/

Okay been using this for about 30minutes now and it's running fine? I'm not too sure though and am yet to put it under load so just incase I'm creating a multi-usb for win 7 / ubuntu so that I can install them on the other HDD if need be.
