First Gaming PC Build

1. Budget & Location

Budget: £600-700

Location: UK

2. Aim

I plan on being able to run upcoming games like CIV 6 and Battlefield 1 on 1080p max settings.

3. Monitors

One 1080p monitor

4. Peripherals

A cheap keyboard needed.

5. Why are you upgrading?

Trying to transition over to PC gaming but my old laptop just isn't cutting it.

In your case I would go even cheaper on the... case and change your monitor to a 24" model, 21" just seems a little tiny to me, I think you'd be happy with a bigger monitor.

You are in the UK, be sure to abuse LaptopsDirect refurbished monitors, you can get some great deals on like-new screens (if they are marked as A1): http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/st/refurbished-monitors

For example: http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/a1-refurbished-acer-s240hlbid-full-hd-hdmi-vga-dvi-24-led-monitor-a1-um.fs0ee.001/version.asp

Me and my friend recently bought an A1 refurbished monitor and they seemed to be brand new.

the RAM you have selected won't work with that motherboard. for Z170 and basically all skylake CPU's you need DDR3L or DDR4 RAM.

also, you went with a Z170 motherboard but a locked CPU, so you can't overclock! maybe look into getting a 6600K? or of you're not overclocking, get a H170 motherboard and save some money.other than that this build should be more then enough for 1080P gaming!

Get an H170 mobo for your locked one or a 6600k and DDR4 RAM. Rest seems fine, besides the monitor 21,5"? Really? 24" is the best bet for 1080p

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X PBO GPU: Asus Strix RTX 3090 OC Mobo: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3600Mhz CL17

CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i Capillex Storage: Samsung 980 Pro and 970 Evo 1TB Samsung 860 EVO 1TB Crucial MX300 525GB WD Black 2TB PSU: Corsair HX1000 Case: Corsair 500D SE RGB 6x LL120

Yeah it's legit, me and my friend both bought Predator XB271HU's (144hz, 1440P, GSync) for ... 248!!!!!!!!!

They seemed brand new and we both got lucky with no bad backlight bleed and no dead pixels. Crazy prices, needless to say they sold out within an hour lol.

Edit: LaptopsDirect is actually part of Acer or something like that, that's why so many Acer monitors are on there. They show up as Acer when you search for them on Google Maps.

Ok thanks! Could you suggest some RAM sticks I could consider that would work with the CPU please?

Don't forget Overclocker's refurb section, I bought a "refurb" GTX 1080 GameRock (Palit) for £499.99 and I don't think it was even taken out of the box lol.

They are all verified as working! You just might be missing a DP cable, HDMI adaptor etc, though me and my friend both got everything as new.

Prices from newegg UK don't include the vat so that £676 would probably go 750 after taxes.
