fx 6300 overclocking with 212 evo.

how far could i over clock and how would i overclock my cpu as i tried but i think i did something extremely wrong ad i had the bsod, my motherboard is the gigabyte 970a-ds3p any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to get around 4GHz without increasing voltage.  See how far you can take the multiplier on stock volts(1.3v), then increase the voltages by +.05 increments while increasing the multiplier by 1. Keep the vcore under 1.45v. Once you find a stable multiplier overclock try lowering the voltages by .01v until it gets unstable and then roll it back the last known stable overclock. To get a quick idea of stability use intel burn test at 20 passes. Just insure that your core temps arent going over 60c while stress testing for lengevity. Once you hone in your final overclock use p95 or occt for 4+ hours. Also, use cpuz to confirm the VID you set in bios matches the vcore you're actually getting. GL

 

Edit: Your mobo has a 4+1 power phase so i suggest you keep it under 1.4vcore for longevity.  You should be able to get 4.3-4.4Ghz.

so i went to 4.3 on 1.375 volts and fail the intel stress test backed down to 4.2 but in 1.350 volts and all is fine in intel stress test but prime 95 with a blend test (is this the one i should to use) one of the cores says hardware fail all temps look ok 45 on max, it says to consult stress.txt but i cannot find any where.

You could try to see what voltage it takes for 4.4GHz to be stable. I wouldn't go above 1.45v, though. If it boots, stress test it and touch your vrm heatsink. If its blazing hot, dial the voltage back and go for a lower overclock. A 4+1 power phase doesn't mean it wont overclock well, it moreso means that they will get hotter and possible have more vdroop, cause of the greater burden. Adjustments to LLC can aid if you see vdroop. 

 

As far as stress testing goes, run IBT on max and prime 95 on blend. Seems like you're temps are good. Keep in mind if you live in a climate that gets hot in the summer you may need to tone down your overclock when the ambient temps go up. GL

i live in the uk so temps here will be going down till about march and even in "summer" it is not what would be classed as summer it's kinda blazing hot or floods but i have about 10 degrees head room for just such an occasion i did IBT and prime and we are good to go thanks for all the help. i have not done how much voltage is needed YET but i plan on doing so.
