HDD doesn't register in windows 8 or BIOS

Hello,

Is there a way to determine whether my hard drive is dead? i just completed the build and everything else works, the sdd shows up but the hard drive is not seen. All the cables work and I have switched them out multiple times. For anyone who's wondering the hdd was a WD Black 2TB.

Thank you for your help!

Try it out on another computer if you can. If it works, then there's a problem with your motherboard, maybe your SATA connectors. If it doesn't work, then you know the HDD is dead.

Does the drive make sound when you have your ear next to it and are there any power LEDs on the drive.

Bonsai99- No sound and no LEDs. Never seems like it works.

Yeah, my friend's going to put it in his rig and if it doesn't work there I can be pretty sure somethings wrong
